While Massachusetts has a burning drug problem, it is also true that there are a large number of treatment options within the state to help people who are fighting addictions. The commonest programs are the outpatient treatment programs and the inpatient detox programs.

In the outpatient treatment program in Massachusetts, the patient continues staying in his or her home, but attends therapy for nine to ten hours a week. This therapy is a counseling therapy that is conducted in the group as well as individual format and the patient is also monitored for recovery. The inpatient detox program is a more elaborate program in which the patient is kept in an isolated setting where detoxification is carried out under the guidance of able medical supervisors.

Bit then there are several other forms of addiction treatment in Massachusetts too. The day treatment program is quite popular where the person does not stay in an inpatient setting but has to attend therapy every day of the week, though in some cases, the weekends may be kept free.

Here, the patient is made to routinely undergo a detox treatment and then is put onto a psychiatric study where an expert will check the extent of the mental problem and then decide what form the treatment must take.

Then there is of course the residential treatment program in which the patient is isolated for a long period of time and is treated in a very rigorous manner. The detox is an essential element here too but it is continued with a community based treatment pattern that includes the aftercare program with relapse prevention at its helm.
